With such a broad range of venues, there is a continuous programme of premieres, renowned productions, top musicals, operas, ballets and mega music concerts. There is always a new club, attraction or sporting occasion to attend.

The Lyceum Theatre is a few hundred yards away, as is the Royal Opera House. Covent Garden Piazza is always a buzzing, exciting place to visit and you will find that the street entertainers are of an unusually high standard.

History

Known as ‘The Garden of the Abbey and Convent’, Covent Garden began life around 1200 AD when it was walled-off to serve as the orchards and farmland of Westminster Abbey.

After being seized by Henry VIII, Covent Garden was granted to the Earls of Bedford in 1552. They commissioned Inigo Jones to build elegant houses, the Italianate arcades of the market square and the church of St. Paul’s.

London’s parks are sanctuaries for its inhabitants and provide calm and serenity. Lincoln’s Inn Fields and Gray’s Inn Gardens are nearby.

They are part of the historic Inns of Court and are very much a hidden pleasure for those in the know, offering ideal spots for reading, or picnics.
